A Personal Biograpy:
I was first introduced to Salsa whilst working in Puerto Rico nearly 2 years ago. It would be an understatement to say it has totally changed my life, from the very first lesson I was completely hooked and have never looked back. My first lessons were taken in my other home town of Washington DC but continued when I returned to Birmingham.
Two years on and I'm teaching all over the country… 'were does all the time go?' it only feels like yesterday.!
In my teaching I try to focus on key points of which tend to extract the best our of my students. I like to focus on fluidity and continuity in my routines. Etiquette and awareness of space. I think something to focus on with students are the fundamentals of the basic steps - listing to the beat and tempo and expressing yourself in your own style.
There has been no one particular teacher to influence my dancing because most of my dancing comes form the soul of my heart. I tend to learn by example by mimicking others. One teacher took me under his wing and encourage me to learn to each not only did he give me the opportunity but I learnt a lot about, what should be known to some of us as 'Salsa Ethics' which is about respect for those around you.
